Frequently Asked Questions
What is iAPPS Content Manager?
iAPPS Content Manager is a content management system that allows non-technical users to create, edit, and publish website content via a browser-based interface. iAPPS is available on-demand or as a perpetually licensed product.
Is it easy to create and maintain web content with iAPPS?
Yes - very easy. iAPPS Content Manager editing and authoring tools were developed to be easily used by someone with no knowledge of HTML coding. Add new pages, sections and sub-sections, upload and publish images on a page - it's all easily done within the administration area. In fact, inline content editing allows you to edit content directly to a staged version of the page - it looks exactly like it will look as your making the changes once published.
Is iAPPS search engine friendly?
Yes, iAPPS is very SEO-friendly and is the only CMS out there that includes auto-301 redirects and auto-generated XML sitemaps. A 301 Redirect alerts search engines to a page name change and send search users to the right place. When a 301 Redirect is not in place, search users can experience a Page Not Found error, also known as a 404 error. 404 errors can cause your website to be penalized with diminished search engine rankings. iAPPS Content Manager includes auto-301 Redirect creation after any page name change within your website meaning you never have to worry about being penalized with search engines over your dynamic site content.
Sitemap.XML files allow a site administrator to inform search engines about URLs on their website that should be indexed, or in some cases, not indexed. Furthermore, they help search engines crawl through a website more intelligently by listing all available page URLs and include additional metadata for each page such as how often its URL changes and when it was last updated.
Unlike many database-driven content management systems, iAPPS avoids query string URLs and uses search engine friendly english language URLs. So your page URLs will end in /products or /services. Additionally, the metadata tagging features allow you to define specific page metadata and what metadata to include in a web page.
What are the newest features in iAPPS?
With the release of iAPPS V4.6, iAPPS now offers foreign language translation of content with the integration of Microsoft Translator directly into the WYSIWYG editor. iAPPS V4.6 also brings SharePoint integration directly to the editor. Site administrators can easily access any digital assets from a linked SharePoint library to share directly in iAPPS managed content.
Recent features from previous releases of iAPPS include a state-of-the-art AJAX-based User Interface, friendly URLs for better SEO, multi-site management, XML-based content syndication for easy import/export and faster searching, RSS content syndication and management, and advanced workflow for more flexible publishing options.
iAPPS also includes Web 2.0-friendly features including blogs, polls, surveys and page commenting – all easily created via an easy-to-use drag and drop interface. Page Administration is faster and easier than ever thanks to the addition of global find & replace of text. The links within text are now updated automatically whenever pages or files are renamed. Content approvers will enjoy the latest enhancement to Workflow - Content Preview. Content Preview means screenshots of actual content are included within the body of an approver’s email and making it a simple click within the email to approve or reject the content!
